Abstract
Subclavian hemodialysis catheters are widely employed for temporary hemodialysis access, but there are some serious late complication as a subclavian vein stenosis.
We experienced a case in which the prolonged use of subclavian dialysis catheter ipsilateral to the permanent vascular access was associated with the development of subclavian vein stenosis four years after the temporary catheter was removed Case
is
typical in the development of severe upper extremity edema and pain.
It was diagnosed by venogram and we treated stenotic lesion with percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) successfully. After PTA, arm edema, pain and venous pressure on hemodialysis were markedly decreased.
The authors report this case with a reviews of liter ature.
